Nepra Approves Rs46.6 Billion Additional Financial Burden on Consumers ISLAMABAD:

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved an additional financial burden of Rs46.613 billion on consumers of distribution companies (Discos) and K-Electric (KE) under the Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA) for the third quarter (January-March) of the current fiscal year.

Of the total approved adjustment, Rs28.515 billion is attributed to capacity charges. An additional Rs10.284 billion will be recovered due to the lower Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) impact of Transmission and Distribution (T&D) losses, Rs5.309 billion for Operations and Maintenance (O&M), and Rs2.541 billion for Use of System Charges.

The QTA will be recovered through electricity bills issued in July, August, and September 2024. However, officials from the Power Division have requested Nepra to notify the QTA adjustment immediately, as tariff rebasing is also scheduled to commence from July 1, 2024.

Nepra has approved specific recoveries for various distribution companies as follows:

Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO): Rs7.772 billion
Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco): Rs2.181 billion
Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco): Negative Rs1.013 billion
Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco): Rs9.090 billion
Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco): Rs3.337 billion
Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco): Rs14.095 billion
Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco): Rs5.011 billion
Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco): Rs5.219 billion
Sukkur Electric Supply Company (Sepco): Rs1.656 billion
Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco): Negative Rs546 million
